“Consider the lilies of the field…”

Or, in my case, the succulents of the back yard!

The message of these words, as most of you know, is that we should trust God to take care of us, and not stress over the future. I realize that in the day we are living in, that may be easier said than done. So lately my attention is drawn to the succulents in my back yard, which, while I’m not making any assumptions as to Solomon and all his glory, are actually looking pretty good.As I have mentioned before, succulents seem to be the plant of choice for me lately. I have discovered that as long as I water them every now and then, they will thrive pretty much anywhere I put them.

You’ll notice that this one has “babies”. That’s what I love about succulents, they give you new plants for free so you don’t have to keep buying them in the stores. Because to be honest, some of these succulents tend to be a bit pricey.

Not long ago I cut back some of the ones I had in pots, and planted the cuttings in the yard. I had left a bunch of cuttings lying on the top of the soil in the plastic pot on the right, and several days later I noticed that they had not only sprouted roots, but flowers!

I keep thinking I need to re-pot the aloe vera on the right, or at the very least put it in the ground with the rest of the “cactus area” plants.

Speaking of the cactus area, the nopales are having babies too!

I took this when I went for a walk around a nearby outdoor shopping area this week.I’ve had snapdragons in my yard before, but never like this!Aren’t they gorgeous?And in the parking lot I found this tiny little guy.Consider the pansies.
