Home decor advice from our expert influencer.

No, this is NOT my living room, although I admit there’s not much I don’t like about it. It’s the featured image for an article I just read, entitled “15 Items Designers Suggest Decluttering from Your Home”. I love these articles, because I almost always find that whatever they say not to do, decor-wise, I’m doing, and vice versa. Which always seems to eventually become blog material.
Fake Plants

Imagine my surprise when I read that fake plants are a decorating “no-no” in the designer world. I’m pretty sure they never had cats.

There was a time when I had real plants in my house. . .

But their days were numbered.

Finally they asked if they could be relocated to the outside.

Suffice it to say that now the only plants in my house are plastic. And I’m okay with that.

The real plants are, too, so it’s all good.
Too Many Throw Pillows

How can you not have throw pillows?

Do I have too many? Most likely. But if you like them, you have my special “influencer permission” to get some and put them wherever you want.
Too Many Books

Wait…what?? Now I know I’ve fallen out of favor with the rest of the decorating world. I’m pretty sure there will never not be “too many books” at my house.

I’ve always used books for decor, and probably always will. So we might as well get used to it.
Too Many Photos

Books and photos just go together.

Declutter my photos? Not gonna happen.
Too Many Area Rugs

I kind of like area rugs.

Area rugs, cats, and books somehow go together.

And it was an area rug that inspired the very first Foster and Panda adventure in 2017.

Also in 2017, in “Panda Abroad”, Panda tried to see if the hallway rug would fly, since he wanted to go on a trip to China.

Foster teased him about going “incognito, disguised as a burrito”.

But in the end they decided to take the carpet from the front room.
Too Many Bold Colors

Bold colors, books, photos and an area rug, all in the same room! Oh, my!

I don’t think the bold colors are going away anytime soon.
So, what is the conclusion of the whole matter? IMIO (in my influencer opinion), your decor has to reflect who you are, not anybody else. Don’t be afraid to think outside the “accepted” decor box. Follow me for more decor tips.

Yay! I’m glad you like my philosophy of home decor!😀🐱🐼
I love all the pictures, books and rugs!
Thanks! Me too! 🥰
Ha ha, so many things to love and enjoy – will I think so. But oh, a tiny Foster near the top there… very lovely, even though a plant will disappear!😊💛
Yes he was so tiny it’s hard to believe! I haven’t tried putting a real plant in the house for quite a few years, but maybe now that he’s a “grown up kitty” he might leave them alone. 🤔
Going to try?🪴
I might… I know that African violets are nontoxic to cats. I think he’d probably leave those alone. Spider plants are safe for cats too, and easier to grow, still I don’t think I’d want to risk that! To tempting to play with 🤔🐱
😉🐾
I love your home!!! It’s beautiful just like you!
Aww thanks!😊
Love this! ; )
Thanks!
You’ve definitely made all the right decor decisions!! I loved this post – the cats are really part of the decor in more ways than one can imagine 😀
Thanks! I’m glad you liked it! And you’re right about cats! 🐈 🐈⬛🐱
