I’m Not Making This Up!

I found a shopping cart!

shopping cart 1It’s been on the sidewalk in front of my house for almost a week. Ever since garbage pick-up day. I thought it had been left by someone going through the recycle bins on the street, as often happens on garbage day. But why would someone who was collecting recyclables leave their shopping cart behind? You’d think they would need it to carry their items in.shopping cart 3I put in back on the curb, more than once, but it kept finding its way back to my driveway. One day, to my horror, as I was backing out of the driveway I noticed that someone had pushed it all the way up to my gate next to my trash cans! I wish now that I had taken a picture, but I was so mortified that I stopped my car immediately and pushed it back to the street. “This is not going to happen,” I said. shopping cart 2At first I thought it was from the grocery store, but on closer inspection it turned out to be from the store “Tuesday Morning”. Which I might add is quite a distance from my house, (if you’re going to walk, I mean). So today I called the store and explained my dilemma. I asked if it was something they would want to come get, since I don’t have a pickup to bring it to them. cart on curbThe girl who answered the phone didn’t sound too interested in getting it back. Based on the fact that it was made of metal, she said it was an older one. I guess the newer ones are plastic. I said that if they didn’t want it, I was thinking of spray painting it turquoise and planting plants in it. Much to my surprise, she responded, “Go ahead and keep it, Ma’am.” I said, “Are you serious?” and she said, “Yes, if you are going to use it, you can have it!”  Okay then…

Has anyone seen anything on Pinterest about ways to repurpose a shopping cart?

I can’t believe I even looked it up!
